Careers at SettleRisk

Build the risk infrastructure layer for the prediction market ecosystem.

SettleRisk is defining a new category of financial infrastructure. Prediction markets are growing explosively — billions in volume, millions of participants — but the tools for understanding resolution risk haven't kept pace. We're building those tools.

We're a small, focused team that punches far above its weight. Every person here has a direct line to the founder, direct impact on the product, and direct ownership of outcomes. If you want to work on hard problems at the intersection of fintech, NLP, and quantitative risk — and you want your work to matter — you're in the right place.

Why Work at SettleRisk

We're building something that doesn't exist yet — there is no established playbook for prediction market resolution risk analytics. That means the problems are genuinely novel, the technical challenges are real, and the work you do here will define the category.

We believe the best work happens when talented people have autonomy, clarity, and the resources to execute. Here's what we offer:

Competitive Equity Package

Generous early-stage equity that reflects your impact. You're not joining a mature company — you're building one. Your equity grows as we grow.

Fully Remote, Async-First

Work from anywhere in the world. We operate async-first with minimal meetings. We care about output and impact, not hours in a chair or timezone alignment.

Unlimited PTO

Take the time you need. We trust you to manage your schedule. The only expectation is that you communicate proactively and deliver on your commitments.

Health & Wellness

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for US-based employees. Stipend available for international team members to secure equivalent coverage.

Home Office Budget

$3,000 annual stipend for your workspace — monitors, standing desks, ergonomic chairs, or whatever you need to do your best work.

Learning & Development

$2,000 annual budget for conferences, courses, books, and certifications. We invest in your growth because your growth is our growth.

Latest Tools & Hardware

Top-tier laptop of your choice (MacBook Pro, ThinkPad, or equivalent). Premium subscriptions to the tools you need — no procurement bottlenecks.

Team Offsites

Quarterly in-person team gatherings in interesting locations. Strategy sessions during the day, team bonding in the evenings. Fully covered.

How We Work

We're async-first, documentation-driven, and results-oriented. We don't measure productivity by hours logged or messages sent. We measure it by problems solved, code shipped, and customers served.

1

Ship early, iterate fast

We prefer shipping a focused v1 and learning from real usage over debating hypothetical requirements. Our entire product philosophy — heuristic-only v1, statistical models in v2 — reflects this.

2

Write it down

Every decision, spec, and design is documented. Our codebase has five detailed specification documents. Our API contract is defined in OpenAPI and Protobuf. We communicate through written artifacts, not Slack threads.

3

Own the outcome

You won't be assigned tickets from a backlog. You'll own a domain — a customer segment, a model pipeline, a product area — and you'll be responsible for driving it forward. We hire people who don't need to be managed.

4

Rigor matters

We build financial infrastructure. Our scoring must be deterministic. Our APIs must be reliable. Our data must be accurate. We don't cut corners on correctness.

Open Positions

We're hiring for two critical roles. Both report directly to the founder.

Business Development Lead

Growth · Full-time · Remote (US / EU preferred)

$140K–$180K + equity

We're looking for a Business Development Lead to drive SettleRisk's go-to-market strategy and build partnerships across the prediction market ecosystem. This is a foundational role — you'll be shaping our commercial strategy from the ground up, working directly with the founder, and owning the entire revenue pipeline from first contact to closed deal.

What You'll Do

  • Own the full business development pipeline: identify, qualify, engage, and close enterprise clients across prediction market platforms, trading firms, market makers, and fund managers
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at Polymarket, Kalshi, and emerging prediction market platforms to drive platform-level integrations and partnerships
  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for each customer segment — retail traders, professional trading desks, market makers, and platform operators
  • Lead pricing and contract negotiations for Enterprise tier clients, including custom SLA agreements and on-premise deployment discussions
  • Collaborate with the founder and engineering team to translate customer feedback into product roadmap priorities, ensuring we build what the market actually needs
  • Represent SettleRisk at industry events, conferences, and in media — becoming a recognized voice in the prediction market risk analytics space
  • Build out the sales infrastructure: CRM, outreach sequences, pipeline metrics, and reporting that scales with the team
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with complementary fintech products, data providers, and trading infrastructure companies

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years in business development, partnerships, or enterprise sales in fintech, trading infrastructure, or API-first B2B products
  • Deep familiarity with prediction markets, derivatives trading, or quantitative finance — you understand how traders think about risk, capital efficiency, and pricing
  • Demonstrated track record of closing six-figure enterprise deals and building long-term client relationships
  • Experience selling API products or developer tools — you can speak credibly about REST APIs, webhooks, gRPC, and technical integration patterns
  • Strong network in the prediction market or broader crypto/fintech ecosystem
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — you'll be drafting partnership proposals, presenting to C-suite executives, and writing public-facing content
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating in an early-stage environment with minimal structure
  • Experience with data-driven sales processes: pipeline analytics, conversion metrics, and revenue forecasting

Why This Role Matters

This is the rare opportunity to build the commercial engine of a company that sits at the intersection of fintech, prediction markets, and quantitative risk analytics. You won't be selling a commodity — you'll be evangelizing a new category of financial infrastructure. The prediction market ecosystem is growing explosively, and SettleRisk is positioned to be the standard risk layer. As our first business development hire, you'll have outsized influence on our strategy, culture, and trajectory.

ML/AI Director

Engineering · Full-time · Remote (Global)

$180K–$240K + equity

We're hiring an ML/AI Director to lead SettleRisk's evolution from heuristic-only scoring (v1) to statistical model-augmented analytics (v2 and beyond). This is a technical leadership role where you'll architect our ML pipeline, build the team, and define the research agenda that transforms how resolution risk is modeled. You'll report directly to the founder and have full ownership of our machine learning strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build the ML pipeline architecture for v2: training data collection from historical disputes, feature engineering from structured LLM extractions, model training and evaluation, and inference integration with our deterministic scoring engine
  • Lead the transition from stat_model_version="none" (v1 heuristic-only) to trained statistical models that enhance driver detection, calibrate risk scores against actual dispute outcomes, and improve delay distribution accuracy
  • Architect the LLM extraction pipeline: evaluate and optimize prompt engineering for structured rule extraction, implement quality scoring and validation against our JSON schema, and build feedback loops that improve extraction accuracy over time
  • Define the research agenda for novel applications: dispute probability calibration using historical data, market-specific risk factor discovery, cross-platform risk correlation analysis, and early warning systems for emerging disputes
  • Build and lead the ML/AI team — hiring research engineers, ML engineers, and data scientists as the company scales
  • Establish ML infrastructure standards: experiment tracking, model versioning, A/B testing frameworks, and monitoring/alerting for model drift and degradation
  • Collaborate closely with the systems engineering team to ensure ML models integrate seamlessly with our Rust backend, maintaining the determinism and reproducibility guarantees that our customers depend on
  • Publish research and contribute to the public discourse on prediction market risk modeling — building SettleRisk's reputation as the intellectual leader in this space

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years in machine learning or AI, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or director-level role
  • Deep expertise in NLP/NLU — particularly structured information extraction from natural language text, entity recognition, relation extraction, and text classification
  • Production experience with LLM-based systems: prompt engineering, output validation, structured extraction, quality scoring, and cost optimization for large-scale LLM workloads
  • Strong foundation in probabilistic modeling, Bayesian methods, and calibration — you understand how to translate model outputs into well-calibrated probabilities
  • Experience with time-series analysis and distribution fitting (especially lognormal, Weibull, or similar delay/survival models)
  • Track record of shipping ML systems to production that serve real-time or near-real-time applications, not just research prototypes
  • Familiarity with financial risk modeling, market microstructure, or quantitative trading concepts is a strong plus
  • Experience building and managing ML teams — hiring, mentoring, setting technical direction, and creating a culture of rigorous experimentation
  • Publication record or equivalent demonstrated research contribution in NLP, risk modeling, or a related field
  • Comfortable working with Rust or willing to learn — our backend is Rust + Tokio, and ML integration must respect our performance and determinism requirements

Why This Role Matters

This is a ground-floor opportunity to build the ML function at a company solving a genuinely novel problem. There is no established playbook for modeling prediction market resolution risk — you'll be defining the field. You'll work with rich structured data (LLM extractions, driver taxonomies, historical dispute outcomes), a clean Rust codebase, and a founder who understands both the technical and business dimensions of what you're building. The prediction market ecosystem is still in its early innings, and the analytical tools that emerge now will become the standard infrastructure for a multi-billion-dollar market.
